Is your business on voip yet?

Especially when you have better and cheaper options. What am I talking about? VOIP business phone service and I’m not talking about vonage or magic jack. I’m talking about hosted virtual PBX VOIP systems.

For the first time small businesses can sound like a big operation and offer more options for their customers or potential customers.  The advantages and costs far outweigh using a real phone system or even a basic land line. Losing leads due to full mailboxes or no answering machine are simply a thing of the past which means you’ll make more sales and have happy customers. With packages starting as low as $20/mo it makes a lot of sense to make the switch!

Features you can expect on typical virtual PBX systems:

- No hardware required (except a usb headset)
- Fully remote – You can take calls anywhere – all you need is an internet connection or a cell phone to forward calls to
- Real phone menus and options for customers (sales, support, billing etc.)
- Capability to have multiple extensions in different offices (perfect for home-based businesses)
- Voicemail to email (wav or mp3 file attachment)
- Control Panel to administer your phone system
- Toll Free Phone numbers

I agree. When I was doing my homework traditional phone systems were at least 5K and that didn’t even include the setup fees and regular phone fees. For small businesses just starting out a VOIP service works out just fine and can scale with your needs. I can confidently look and act like a big business and my customers have no idea that I’m at home working in my underwear! and when I transfer a call to my partner they think he’s in the same office when in reality he’s over 1000 miles away! I love technology.

Yes a VOIP service works wonders for your business. One thing you have to be careful of however is your internet connection. Many people don’t realize how much your internet connection affects your VOIP quality. For the best quality you have to have an internet connection with a physical line (DSL, Cable, T1 or fiber) if you have a wireless connection you will have all sorts of issues with delays and possibly dropped calls. Your office network also needs to be wired. If you use a wifi connection your VOIP quality will degrade.
